Statewide Tornado Drill on April 10th, 2025

Rock County will again participate in the Wisconsin Statewide Tornado Drill this Thursday, April 10th. This drill will occur at 1:45 PM and 6:45 PM to allow residents, schools, and businesses to practice their severe weather response plans.

This important preparedness exercise aims to reinforce the significance of emergency planning and ensure that all residents know what to do in the event of a tornado. Outdoor warning sirens, NOAA Weather Radios, and other emergency notification systems will be activated during the drill to simulate a real tornado warning.

As we have increasingly seen in recent years, Wisconsin experiences tornadoes annually, making it crucial for individuals and organizations to have a preparedness plan in place. The drill serves as a reminder to review emergency plans, identify shelter locations, and ensure emergency kits are stocked.

The evening drill at 6:45 PM is designed to accommodate families and second-shift workers who may not be available during the afternoon drill. Participation is voluntary but strongly encouraged for everyone.
