NOTICE OF ANNUAL MEETING

The Town of Harmony will hold its annual meeting on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Harmony Town Hall, 440 N. U.S. Hwy. 14, Janesville. The annual meeting is an open meeting of the electors and residents are encouraged to attend. A majority of Town Board members may be present and may participate in the meeting.

At the Spring Election to be held on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 in the County of Rock the following polling place location will be used for the Town of Harmony:

Town of Harmony Town Hall
440 N. Hwy 14 Janesville, WI

The polling location is open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

If you have any questions concerning you polling place, please contact your municipal clerk.

Al polling places are accessible to elderly and disabled voters.

Items on the agenda include discussion and possible action on Letter of Credit for the Stoney Ridge Subdivision, rezoning application for the Vineyard parcel # 6-7-76A, Clean Sweep, set date for open book and set date for board of review. Regular items on the agenda include approval of bills, reports from the treasurer, building inspector and zoning officer, and upcoming events. 

A quorum of the Planning and Zoning Committee may attend this meeting for information gathering purposes.

Test of Electronic Equipment for April 6, 2010 Election

 

TOWN OF HARMONY NOTICE

There will be a public test of the electronic equipment that will be used at the Tuesday, April 6, 2010 spring election. The test will be held on Wednesday, March 31,2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the Harmony Town Hall, 440 N. Highway 14 Janesville. All residents are invited to attend this public test.

Voting by Absentee Ballot

 

VOTING BY ABSENTEE BALLOT

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear a the polling place on election day may request to vote an absentee ballot A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the ward or municipality where he or she wished to vote of at least 10 days before the election. The elector must also be registered in order to receive an absentee ballot.

TO OBTAIN AN ABSENTEE BALLOT
YOU MUST MAKE A REQUEST IN WRITING.

Contact your municipal clerk and request that an application for an absentee ballot be sent to you for the spring election. You may also request an absentee ballot by letter. Your written request must list your voting address within the municipality where you wish to vote, the address where the absentee ballot should be sent, if different, and your signature.

Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the municipal clerk.

You can also personally go to the clerks office or other specified locations, complete a written application, and vote an absentee ballot during the hours specified for casting an absentee ballot.

The deadline for making application to vote by absentee ballot by mail is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday April 1, 2010. The deadline for voting an absentee ballot in the Clerk's office is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010. All voted ballots must be returned to the Municipal Clerk so the Clerk can deliver them to the proper polling place or counting location before the polls close on Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

There will be a public test of the electronic equipment that will be used at the Tuesday, February 16, 2010 primary election. The test will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Harmony Town Hall, 440 N. Highway 14 Janesville. All residents are invited to attend this public test.

TOWN OF HARMONY NEWS

The Harmony Town Board will meet at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Harmony Town Hall, 440 N. Hwy. 14, Janesville.

Items on the agenda include discussion and possible action on hiring an interim Building Inspector, Claim of Excessive Assessment on Richard Stockwell property, and new Rezoning Requests and Conversion Fees taking effect on March 1, 2010 from the Department of Agriculture. Regular items on the agenda include approval of bills, reports from the treasurer, building inspector and zoning officer, and upcoming events. 

A quorum of the Planning and Zoning Committee may attend this meeting for information gathering purposes.

The Harmony Town Board will also meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Milton Town Hall, 23 First Street, Milton.

The meeting will be for the sole purpose of considering applications for the Building Inspector position. The meeting may go into closed session pursuant to Sec. 19.85(1)(C) of the Wisconsin Statutes to consider applications for the building inspector position. No hiring decisions will be made during this meeting.

DEADLINE FOR MAKING APPLICATION TO VOTE ABSENTEE BY MAIL IS 5:00 P.M., ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2010.

(MILITARY ELECTORS SHOULD CONTACT THE MUNICIPAL CLERK REGARDING THE DEADLINES FOR REQUESTING OR SUBMITTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT.

THE DEADLINE FOR VOTING AN ABSENTEE BALLOT IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE IS 5:00 P.M., ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2010.

ALL VOTED BALLOTS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE MUNICIPAL CLERK SO THE CLERK CAN DELIVER THEM TO THE PROPER POLLING PLACE OR COUNTING LOCATION BEFORE THE POLLS CLOSE ON FEBRARUY 16, 2010. ANY BALLOTS RECEIVED AFTER THE POLLS CLOSE WILL NOT BE COUNTED.
